GPA Calculation

Northern Burlington determines a weighted GPA for students. GPA Calculations are based on final grades and are calculated as follows:

Final grade multiplied by the course credit. This will give a number which is “quality points”.
The total points are then divided by the total number of credits to provide the GPA.
If the class is an Honors or AP class, 7 points is added to the final grade.

Example:

Course                     Final Grade                     Credits                     Points
English I                   85                                  5                85 x 5 = 425
Hon Algebra I            90 + 7 = 97                     5                97 x 5 = 485
Hon Biology              94 + 7 = 101                   6               101 x 6 = 606
PE 9                        83                                  2.5             83 x 2.5 = 207.5
TOTAL                                                          18.5                          1723.5

Calculation: Points (1723.5) ÷ Credits (18.5) = GPA (93.162)
