Dear Northern Parents,
Spring has arrived at Northern Burlington. As we enter into the fourth marking period, all of our students are looking forward to the end of winter and the arrival of warm weather.
With the start of the new season, I want to take this opportunity to draw your attention to two new services available on our web page. The first is called SOAR. This is a tutoring program that was originally designed for military families, but it is now available to ALL of our students because of our connection with the McGuire Air Force Base. If you are interested in exploring this resource, please visit our district web page at
www.nburlington.com and follow the link on the right hand side labeled “Soar Academic Support.”
In addition to this resource, we are also pleased to offer our new Lunch Box Parent Portal. This new system will allow you to view your child’s lunch account balance and his or her cafeteria purchase history.
In order to access the Lunch Box Portal, please access our district web page. From there, select NBC High School and then click on “Food Services”; click on “Lunch Box”, which is located on the right side. Use your Power School user ID and password to log in. Follow the different directions on the subsequent screens to view the specific information about your child.
Finally, in the next few weeks, teachers will be administering brief assessments to students in our Mathematics and Language Arts classes to provide data to help us improve and validate the coherence of our instructional program.
The results from these assessments will not count as a grade but rather will be considered in programmatic decisions as well as being used as one indicator for identifying students who may require targeted support in Mathematics or Language Arts next year. In this regard, our counselors will be communicating with you in the weeks ahead should this need arise.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you.
