Special Student/Parent Presentation
Parents and students are invited to hear a dynamic presentation on “Internet Safety and the Pitfalls of Social Networking” by nationally known speaker, KDCop. The presentation will be held on Thursday, May 10th at 7:00 in the Middle School Cafetorium. Parents NEED to know what’s going on and what risks their teenagers face online. Topics include online privacy, texting and sexting, online predators,
cyberbullying, and more. As an incentive, one attendee will be chosen at random to receive a free Kindle e-reader. The event is hosted by Northern’s Parent Teacher Student Connection (PTSC). Please access Kdcop.com and preview media clips to sample his presentation.

Graduation Information
Attached is the senior letter mailed home last week and the graduation newsletter for your reference. It is very important both parent and senior read the information included and note timelines and requirements for the graduation ceremony. The senior letter includes the Graduation Expectation Agreement. One copy of the agreement is to stay home for reference and the other “yellow “ copy is to be signed and returned to the West main office.

Teacher Appreciation Week
The week of May 7-11 is national teacher appreciation week. This is a great opportunity for any who wishes to extend their thanks to a particular teacher. Important end of year reminder
We are quickly nearing the end of the school year. This should be a memorable and productive time for our students. The end of the school year is a special time for celebrating and recognizing student accomplishments. It can also be a time of self induced stress by procrastination and loss of focus on the task at hand. Please re-enforce the importance of finishing the school year strong academically. Adherence to the district attendance policy is also critical to ensure students are able to earn course credit. Seniors need to be especially aware that their final transcript will reflect their effort up until graduation. This is important since many colleges want to see the work ethic of the students they are accepting to their schools.
